Thrifstore Fashion: Lookin Good At The Office

I have to laugh to myself sometimes, because people at my office think that I have money to burn on expensive clothes and accessories.  Truth is, I spent less than $20 for this entire outfit, including the shoes,  purse and accessories.  I LOVE IT!!!  That's smart shopping!  If you aren't a thrifter yet, I'll be sure to make one out of you sooner or later!!!

*Thrift Shopping Tip:  Wear a thin pair of socks and slip-on shoes to make it easier to try on different pairs of shoes.

Thriftstore Fashion: Finding Jewelry At The Thrift store

(Abalone Earrings - $2.99)
Again I want to apologize for the picture quality.  Once I get my camera situation handled, the picture quality will improve.

Here are a few fun jewelry items that I purchased while thrifting.  When I first started thrifting I was so caught up in purchasing clothing and other things that I would pass up the jewelry section. One day I stopped at the jewelry counter because a bracelet caught my eye.  Ever since then I make certain to stop by the jewelry counter every single time.  You never know what little trinkets and treasure you may find.

Thrifstore Fashion OOTD: Thrift Store Outfit Of The Day

Couldn't find my other shoe!

I love these shoes to pieces!

With the exception of one of my bracelets and my undergarments, this entire outfit is thrifted. Although the sheer shirt appears to be zebra print, it's not.  I paired it with a Zebra print bag, and those zebra print shoes. You can also give this outfit a whole different look by adding a bright colored bag for a pop of color.  I should have done that!

Sheer Zebra Print Blouse - Newport News - $3.00
Black Pencil Skirt - Laundry - $2.50
Zebra Print Bag - Guess - $3.00
Zebra Print Shoes - Colin Stuart - $3.50

Paying $12.00 to look thrifty fab - priceless!

Thrift Store Fashion: Tips To Thrift Store Shopping

                        Thrift Store Fashion

It's no secret that I am a thrifting maniac!  My closet is no place for the weak!  I have thrifting down to a science.  I find really cute items that I always get compliments on.  People always think that I spend tons of money on my clothes, when in fact a whole outfit usually costs me about $10 or so.

The outfit in this picture cost me $4.00.  Both the sheer shirt and cargo pants were $2.00 each.  This is one of my more casual outfits, but I also find some super fab items that I will soon be sharing.

Thrifting isn't for everyone.  If you've never been, I suggest you give it a try.  Check with your local Thrift and Goodwill stores to find out sale dates.  My local Thrift Store has regular sales of 50% and 75% off of already extremely cheap items.  You never know what treasures you might find!

  Thrifting Tips:
  • Go prepared. Wear close fitting clothes so you can easily try items on.
  • Go for name brands because generally they are better made.
  • Check for stains, holes, snags, underarm stains, missing buttons and snap and zipper operation.
  • If an item smells of cigarettes, depending on the fabric (usually leather)  it may be difficult to remove.
  • Have an idea of something that you'd like to purchase ( I bring magazines with items circled) sometimes you can find a similar items for a fraction of the cost.
  • Because it's easy to get carried away with spending, bring a specified amount to prevent over-spending.

This past weekend, while out doing my regular thrifting runs, I found these items, of which was happy to add to my already abundant thrift store fashion collection.  My closet simply can't fit one more stitch of fabric and so I am going to have to donate some of my collection once again.  Donating is always fun, because it makes more room to add new treasures!

What are some of your most awesome finds?  Send me a picture of you, posing with your best thriftstore find and I may use your photo for one of my posts. You can send your picture to me at: adimeonadime@gmail.com

Fashion Fun: Thriftstore Finds

If you've perused my Youtube channel, you will have come across a few videos dedicated to my vanglorious (I made that word up) fashion finds that I found while shopping at Thrift Stores and Good Will.  I can't tell you how many quality, brand name things I find that are in good condition and at a fraction of the price!

I am now a seasoned vet when it comes to these places.  When I find something that I really like, I make sure to check the item for any tears, stains or fading.  I look mostly for brand name quality items so that I know they won't fall apart when I get them home to wash them.  I find all types of designer brands for insane prices.

Thrifting isn't for everyone.  Believe me, when I'm looking for a thrifting buddy, I hear things like; "I don't like wearing other people's clothes", "I hate looking for things in those places",  "it smells weird".  My response is to just give it a try!  After a couple of trips, and a couple of awesome finds, I can almost guarantee that any reservations you have about thrifting if not completely eliminated, they will at least be diminished.

For those of us that love thrifting, there's nothing like the rustic smell of used clothing, trinkets and accessories. You step inside the building and a feeling of euphoria washes over you.  It's not just because of the savings.  A real thrifter knows, it's the thrill of the hunt that entices you.  There's nothing like finding an extremely unique, vintage, or designer item of which you know you will pay less that anyone will every believe.  So exciting!  If that's not a good enough reason for you to give thrifting a try, hey, it's recycling and it's good for the environment :)

For those who are new to thrifting, I attached one of my thrifting vides below to give you and idea of some of the things you can find.
